The 2007 Pole Position Corporate Weekend
The greek subsidiary of a multinational courier company requested a weekend-long event for its employers, in order to launch the new business year and reward last year's achievements. The main concept of the event would be the idea of "pole position" as this concept was chosen by the company's global headquarters.
Our team designed and executed a content-rich three day event that included inspirational presentations, exciting team-building games and fun-filed parties, making sure that all the client's goals were achieved
The customer:
A Greek subsidiary of a multinational courier company
The need:
The design and conduct of a three day company event entitled "pole position", aiming at:
- The evaluation of the company's previous year's performance
- The setting of the goals for the following year
- The strengthening of corporate culture
- The strengthening of relations between the management and employees
The project:
The design team of C&C International Group of Companies chose to interpret the title "pole position", set by the company, as the pole position of a formula 1 race. On the basis of this concept, it developed the event's parameters according to the goals set.
Therefore, the company employees were turned into formula 1 drivers, while the executives assumed their positions at pit stops, thus creating a team ready to win another race, so as to achieve the goals of yet one more year. This concept was conveyed by means of a large visual composition, which decorated the main hall and constituted one of the event's commemorative gifts featuring all of the company employees as being members of a formula 1 team.
The event area - situated at a hotel not far from Athens - was exclusively used for hosting this event for three days and its indoor area was appropriately set up for presentations, while its outdoor area was formed for the games organized.
The presentations were held in a purpose-built formula 1 race track stage. A specially designed video and light show were organized to welcome the employees prior to the presentations.
The games were inspired by the main theme and their goal was to nourish team spirit, problem solving skills and collaboration among participants. The teams were consisted of both employees and executives.
In the evening of the second day of the event, a large party was organized so as to present employees and executives with the opportunity to get acquainted with each other and to discuss their experiences from the preceding "races".
In the final day, the winners of the games received their awards, in an award ceremony identical to those of formula 1. The winners were the ones who had scored the highest during the games.
During the three day event, C&C International Group of Companies undertook the following:
- The development of the concept (core idea) of the event
- Hotel bookings
- Transport to and from the event area
- Room decoration
- Creation of commemorative gifts
- Creation and production of a large poster where all of the company employees were featured as members of a formula 1 race team
- Production of the light show for the opening of the presentations
- Design of activities according to the customer's requests and goals

The introductory part that was held prior to the presentations further lifted off the employees' enthusiasm and contributed to the apprehension of the goals as well as of the other subjects of the event.
