The 41st Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Meeting was held under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic and supported by all relevant governmental and public institutions. Participants found the congress to be a great success in terms of number of attendance, invited speakers' portfolio and scientific programme's value.

Probably the greatest challenge that C&C International met was managing to transform a basketball Stadium into a state-of-the-art congress venue in a record time of 40 days as well as to satisfy the demanding requirements posed by the extremely high number of attendance.

At the same time C&C International offered an inspiring social programme including an enactment of ancient drama in the Ancient Roman Theatre of Herodes Atticus, organised exclusively for the congress delegates. The revival of "Nostalgic Athens" on the opening ceremony made the venue resemble to the city as it was in past decades, including a shadow theatre, an open air cinema, a traditional Greek music corner with live musicians and dancers and the official band of The Municipality of Athens. Participants enjoyed this setting having the Argosaronic Sea in the backdrop.
